Snowypockets is an exclusive chalet company in the Alps, with 20 years experience of looking after our guests and our chalets. Our two impressive chalets, each sleeping twelve, offer holiday comforts right in the middle of nature and many family holiday activities including skiing and hiking. Chalet Very Joly is located in Savoie, French Alps & Chalet Runca in Graubinden, Swiss Alps.
Why Chalet Very Joly?
Chalet Very Joly is located at the foot of Col de Very and Col du Joly.
We have lived and worked in the Alps for twenty years - we met here & it's the passion of our life.
Chalet Very Joly is in an amazing Ski Location for snow quantity and quality. It's right in the Mont Blanc Microclimate of regular heavy snowfall.
The ski lifts have been going in all above our 'plot' ever since we bought our piece of paradise. We believe our search to find the best snow of the Alps paid off!
Col de Very looks to the Espace Diamant Ski Region and Megeve.
Col du Joly looks to Les Contamines and the Evasion Mont Blanc Ski Area.
Both Cols look into our Hauteluce Valley, more populated by cows and farmers than holiday-makers. This means we beat the crowds both with morning lifts' access and getting home at the end of the day. We have our own marked, non pisted black run which descends 1000m from to the back door. Otherwise, the free ski bus stops in front of Chalet Very Joly :-
- one way to Hauteluce chair, the back door into L'Espace Diamant Ski Area.
- the other way to our own back door 16 man gondola to the highest of the Les Contamines Skiing.
With the new Bellasta Chair, the Espace Diamant has been brought right to our back door. Skiing back to the door from Les Contamines is also possible, but most people take the free ski bus service, or take their car two minutes to Les Contamines La Ruelle car park. You can also drive ten minutes to Hauteluce, or fifteen to Les Saisies, or thirty to Megeve. We are in Ski Touring Paradise and there are plenty of locals who are high mountain guides to give you an experience of a lifetime.
Quality Craftsmanship
Designed and built by a professional craftsman, resulting in a solid, comfortable, appealing space to enjoy.
Close to Nature
You are past the populated resorts in the mountains. You can't get closer to clean air, wildlife, mountains and forests.
Close to the Action
Although winter sunshine is to die for, there will be bad weather days. There is plenty to do when it is snowing - ski, of course, 400km + of ski pistes to play on, or try a husky dog ride, do the Mountain Twister (The Mountain Twister . Atmosphere "Space Mountain" Saisies for this new unique attraction in the French Alps. Sledge running in winter and summer, mounted on rails near 800m crazy descent alternating banked turns up to 8m ground, waves, 2 360 tendrils ... thrills guaranteed), take a cross country ski lesson, visit a Spa or bar, visit Beaufort Market Town (11km) and it's Dairy (the produce is cheaper than the shops & the whole process is explained in action), ski to Les Contamines and look around town, drive to Megeve for lunch & the sports complex & shops, or even just to Hauteluce, Beaufort or Les Saisies for a great lunch. It all adds up to a great holiday experience.
The Great Escape
Staying in Chalet Very Joly is a holiday in itself - you can relax in comfort and peace, play games, watch films, read books, papers, magasines, snuggle in front of the fire, play music, bake a cake, and wait for the sunny powder day :).
We like the space. One neighbour has had a rental property built for business, squeezing in 19 people into 200 sq.m and two separate units. We provide 300sq.m for twelve guests, have more bathrooms, a huge living area and a separate dining area, balconies for dining al fresco, soundproofing and heat insulation of the highest quality, and overall, a chalet we designed, and built, to be a home, not a rental property.
You have five bedrooms, five bathrooms, an additional two toilets, a hand made fitted fully equipped kitchen, comfortable sofas and dining chairs in a separate dining area, underfloor heating, free wifi, a nice big laundry room, lots of freezer space, a ski boots warmer, fitted wardrobes, solid beds, quality mattresses and bedding and a separate apartment/second living room/games room. Road access is easy from Geneva, Lyon, and Chambery to reach free parking at Chalet Very Joly.
Local Knowledge
We can offer our guests our Local knowledge to get the best of their winter and summer holidays and have compiled a Welcome Folder for your arrival. We lived here (bar the Hunting and Fishing) for the first three years of our children's life. We have great neighbours bringing up their families in this stunning Valley, including retired Ambassadors and Farmers. Having bought the land in 2004, it has been our home & project whilst Mike has been building the chalet. He is a talented furniture maker by trade, ski instructor by hobby, (and, whilst I'm blowing his trumpet, makes amazing curries).
Summer
Families love the freedom of Summer in the traditional unspoilt Beaufortain. Again the Alpine Sunny Climate is to die for. Hunt for Chanterelle & Bolet mushrooms, pick wild blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries, buy dairy produce off our Neighbours, play tennis for free, take a mountain biking lesson and then be unleashed in the Beaufortain (There is a free bus service to take mountain bikes to help), brave the mountain twister, have a game of squash, try the climbing walls (inside & outside) or take a lesson, hike the alpine meadows, forests and ridges, take a horse trek, swim, dive, slide and sunbathe at the heated Beaufort Outdoor Pool, enjoy the Wednesday Beaufort Market, local Bakers and Butchers, pic nic at the Zip line and let the kids trampoline to their hearts content. Al Fresco meals on restaurant terraces or in the garden..now, that's our kind of holiday and gets the stamp of approval from our nine and eleven year old.
